HDOT News Release: Two H-3 Freeway weekend closures scheduled for routine tunnel maintenance

HONOLULU – The Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) advises Oahu motorists that the H-3 Freeway will be closed in the Kaneohe-bound direction between the Halawa Interchange and the Halekou Interchange on Saturday night, Oct. 13, 2018 through Sunday morning, Oct. 14, 2018 from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., for routine maintenance in the Harano Tunnel.

 

Looking ahead the H-3 Freeway is scheduled to be closed in the Halawa-bound direction on Saturday night, Dec. 8, 2018 through Sunday morning, Dec. 9, 2018 from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., for routine maintenance in the Harano Tunnel.

 

The Pali Highway and Likelike Highway are available alternate routes. Motorists are encouraged to check up to the minute traffic conditions on the Koolau routes on the GoAkamai.org website or app before getting behind the wheel.

 

Electronic message boards will be displayed to inform motorists of the closure. Emergency vehicles and TheBus have been notified. Roadwork is weather permitting.
