HDOT NEWS RELEASE: Update on Keaau-Pahoa Road restriping

HILO – The Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) provides the following update on the Keaau-Pahoa Road, 4-Lane Re-Striping Project, Keaau Town (Mile Post 2.0) to Shower Drive (Mile Post 4.0).

Work is scheduled to begin Saturday, Oct. 21, 2017, to remove rumble strips in preparation for the Keaau-Pahoa Road, 4-Lane Re-Striping Project, Keaau Town (Mile Post 2.0) to Shower Drive (Mile Post 4.0), also known as Keaau-Pahoa Widening, Phase 1 (KP1), Mileposts 2-4. The preparation work will involve removal of rumble strips in the centerline of Highway 130 as well as rumble strips along the Makai shoulder. More information on the scheduled weekend work will be made available through the HDOT website at https://hidot.hawaii.gov/highways/roadwork/

Temporary pavement markings restoring the existing 3-lane configuration will be installed following the preparation work.

The permanent lane markings creating 4-lanes on Highway 130 between Mile Post 2 and Mile Post 4 are scheduled to be completed later this year.
