HDOT News Release: Weekend closure scheduled in January for the Kipapa Stream (Roosevelt) Bridge Rehabilitation project

WEEKEND CLOSURE SCHEDULED IN JANUARY FOR THE
KIPAPA STREAM (ROOSEVELT) BRIDGE REHABILITATION PROJECT

HONOLULU – The Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) Highways Division, alerts Oahu motorists that Kamehameha Highway will be closed in both directions between Ka Uka Boulevard and Lanikuhana Avenue from Friday night, Jan. 12, 2018 at 9 p.m. continuously through Monday morning, Jan. 15, 2018 at 5 a.m. for bridge deck work.

Single lane closures with a contraflow are scheduled on the following dates and times:

• Monday, Jan. 2, 2018, through Friday, Jan. 5, 2018 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
• Saturday, Jan. 6, 2018, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
• Monday, Jan. 8, 2018, through Friday, Jan. 12, 2018, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
• Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2018, through Saturday, Jan. 20, 2018, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Three additional full weekend closures are anticipated to be needed to complete the Kipapa Stream (Roosevelt) Bridge Rehabilitation project. Additional information will be provided in future news releases. Work is estimated to be completed by May 2018. Weather permitting.

During closure hours, motorists are advised to avoid Kamehameha Highway and use the H-2 Freeway as an alternate route. HDOT advises motorists to allow for extra travel time to get to their destinations and check traffic apps to plan their commutes.

Electronic message boards will be posted to warn motorists of the closures. Special Duty Police Officers will be on-site to assist with traffic control. Emergency vehicles, first responders, and TheBus have been notified of the roadwork.
