HDOT News Release: WEEKEND CLOSURES CONTINUE FOR THE KIPAPA STREAM (ROOSEVELT) BRIDGE REHABILITATION PROJECT ON KAMEHAMEHA HIGHWAY
Posted on Nov 8, 2017 in Latest Department NewsHONOLULU – The Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) Highways Division notifies motorists that Kamehameha Highway will be closed over the next two weekends in November, in both directions between Ka Uka Boulevard and Lanikuhana Avenue, for the Kipapa Stream (Roosevelt) Bridge rehabilitation project. Roadwork schedule is as follows:
- Kamehameha Highway will be closed from 9 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 10, 2017, through 5 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 13, 2017.
- Kamehameha Highway will be closed from 9 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 17, 2017, through 5 a.m. on Monday, Nov, 20, 2017.
Weekend closures will allow construction to install the concrete overlay on the northbound travel lanes of Kamehameha Highway. HDOT advises motorists to avoid the area and use the H-2 Freeway as an alternate route. Residential traffic will be provided access through Ka Uka Boulevard.
Electronic message boards have been posted to notify motorists of the closure. Emergency vehicles will be allowed through the work zone if access to Kipapa Bridge is needed. TheBus schedules will be modified to use the H-2 Freeway during closure hours. Roadwork is weather permitting.
