HDOT News Release: Weekend lane closures

— H-1 FREEWAY —

 

1) HONOLULU (24-HOUR WORK)

24-hour shoulder closure on the H-1 Freeway in the westbound direction between the Pali Highway overpass and the Houghtailing Street underpass on Friday, Dec. 7, through Friday, Dec. 14, for guardrail and shoulder improvements.

 

2) HONOLULU (24-HOUR WORK)

24-hour shoulder closure on the H-1 Freeway in the eastbound direction between the Kalihi Street overpass and the Liliha Street overpass on Friday, Dec. 7, through Friday, Dec. 14, for guardrail and shoulder improvements.

 

3) HONOLULU (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK)
Two right lanes closed on the H-1 Freeway in the eastbound direction between Gulick Avenue and Liliha Street on Sunday night, Dec. 9, through Friday morning, Dec. 14, from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m., for guardrail and shoulder improvements.  All westbound ramps will remain open.

 

4) KAHALA (WEEKEND CLOSURE)

Closure of the H-1 Freeway in the eastbound direction between the Waialae Avenue offramp (Exit 26B) and Ainakoa Avenue on Sunday, Dec. 9, starting at 4:45 a.m. for the Honolulu Marathon. Eastbound traffic from the H-1 Freeway will be detoured at the Waialae Avenue offramp (Exit 26B), left at Kilauea Street, right at Malia Street, right at Ainakoa Avenue, and left at Kalanianaole Highway (right turn is prohibited). Eastbound traffic will be contraflowed in the westbound lanes on Kalanianaole Highway. The lanes will reopen when the last participant passes through the area.

5) PEARL CITY (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK)

Up to three lanes closed on the H-1 Freeway in the westbound direction between the Pearl City/Waimalu offramp (Exit 10) and the H-1/H-2 split on Sunday night, Dec. 9, through Friday morning, Dec. 14, from 8:30 p.m. to 3:30 a.m., for striping work.

 

6) WAIMALU (WEEKEND AND WEEKLY WORK)

Shoulder closure on the H-1 Freeway in the eastbound direction between the Pearlridge/Waimalu offramp (Exit 10) and the Aiea Heights Drive overpass on Saturday, Dec. 8, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Monday, Dec. 10, through Friday, Dec. 14, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., for shoulder widening work.

Roving closure on the H-3 Freeway in the Halawa-bound direction at the Harano Tunnels on Saturday, Dec. 8, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., for maintenance work.

 

2) KANEOHE TO HALAWA (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK)

Closure of the H-3 Freeway in the Halawa-bound direction between the Halekou Interchange and the Halawa Interchange from 8 p.m. on Saturday night, Dec. 8, through 7 a.m. on Sunday morning, Dec. 9, for routine tunnel cleaning.

 

 

— FARRINGTON HIGHWAY (ROUTE 93) —

 

1) NANAKULI (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK)

Alternating lane closure on Farrington Highway (Route 93) between Nanakuli Avenue and Haleakala Avenue on Sunday night, Dec. 9, through Wednesday morning, Dec. 12, from 8:30 p.m. to 3:30 a.m., for temporary pavement striping and marker installations.

 

  • Sunday and Monday nights: Lane closure alternates between both directions. One lane closed at a time.
  • Tuesday night: Lane closure in the westbound direction only.

 

2) WAIANAE (WEEKEND CLOSURE)

Lane closures on Farrington Highway (Route 93) in both directions between Ala Walua Street and Leihoku Street on Saturday, Dec. 8, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., for the Waianae Coast Community Christmas Parade.

 

3) WAIPAHU (WEEKEND CLOSURE)

Lane closures on Farrington Highway in the westbound direction between Paiwa Street and Pupukahi Street on Saturday, Dec. 8, from 3 p.m. to 3:45 p.m., for the Waipahu Christmas Parade.

 

 

— KALANIANAOLE HIGHWAY (ROUTE 72) —

 

1) AINA HAINA (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK)

Two lanes closed on Kalanianaole Highway (Route 72) in the eastbound direction between West Hind Drive and Ainakoa Avenue on Sunday night, Dec. 9, through Friday morning, Dec. 14, from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m., for manhole work. Traffic will be contraflowed in the westbound lanes.

 

2) AINA HAINA TO HAWAII KAI (WEEKEND CLOSURE)

Closure of Kalanianaole Highway (Route 72) in the eastbound direction between Ainakoa Avenue and Hawaii Kai Drive and westbound between Ainakoa Avenue and the H-1 Freeway on Sunday, Dec. 9, starting at 4:30 a.m. for the Honolulu Marathon.

 

Eastbound traffic from the H-1 Freeway will be detoured at the Waialae Avenue offramp (Exit 26B), left at Kilauea Street, right at Malia Street, right at Ainakoa Avenue, and left at Kalanianaole Highway (right turn is prohibited). Closure of Kalanianaole Highway (Route 72) in both directions between Hawaii Kai Drive and Keahole Street on Sunday, Dec. 9, starting at 4:30 a.m. for the Honolulu Marathon.

 

Eastbound traffic will be detoured left at Kawaihae Street, left at Hawaii Kai Drive, right at Wailua Street, right at Lunalilo Home Road, and left at Kalanianaole Highway.

 

Westbound Kalanianaole Highway motorists will be detoured right at Lunalilo Home Road, left at Wailua Street, left at Hawaii Kai Drive, right at Kawaihae Street, and right at Kalanianaole Highway. The lanes will reopen when the last participant passes through the area.

Closure of the Runaway Truck Ramp on the Likelike Highway (Route 63) in the Honolulu-bound direction in the vicinity of Valley View Drive on Saturday, Dec. 8, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., for pothole patching.

 

 

— NIMITZ HIGHWAY (ROUTE 92) —

Left lane closure on Nimitz Highway (Route 92) in the westbound direction in the vicinity of Ahua Street on Saturday, Dec. 8, from 6 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., for electrical maintenance work.

  • Closure of Ala Moana Boulevard in both directions between Ward Avenue and Nuuanu Avenue starting at 2:30 a.m. Eastbound traffic detoured left at Smith Street.
