OAHU LANE CLOSURES

FOR THE WEEKEND OF MARCH 22 – MARCH 24

 

PLEASE NOTE:

Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice.
All projects are weather permitting.

 

— H-1 FREEWAY —

 

1) HONOLULU (24-HOUR WORK)

24-hour shoulder closure on the H-1 Freeway in the westbound direction between the Pali Highway overpass and the Houghtailing Street underpass on Friday, March 22, through Friday, March 29, for guardrail and shoulder improvements.

 

2) HONOLULU (24-HOUR WORK)

24-hour shoulder closure on the H-1 Freeway in the eastbound direction in the vicinity of the Liliha Street overpass on Friday, March 22, through Friday, March 29, for guardrail and shoulder improvements.

 

3) HONOLULU (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK)
Two right lanes closed on the H-1 Freeway in both directions on Sunday night, March 24, and Wednesday night, March 27, through Friday morning, March 29, from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m., for guardrail and shoulder improvements. The School Street onramp to the H-1 Freeway westbound will be closed during this time. Motorists will be detoured via Palama Street and Vineyard Boulevard.

 

  • Lane closures in the westbound direction are between Vineyard Boulevard offramp (Exit 22) and the Liliha Street overpass.
  • Lane closures in the eastbound direction are between the Palama Street overpass and the Liliha Street overpass.

 

4) KAPOLEI (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK)

Closure of the H-1 Freeway in the eastbound direction between the Campbell Industrial Park/Barbers Point Harbor offramp (Exit 1A) and the Wakea Street onramp on Sunday night, March 24, through Monday morning, March 25, and Wednesday night, March 27, through Friday morning, March 29, from 9 p.m. to 4:30 a.m., for the Kapolei Interchange Complex, Phase 2 project. Eastbound motorists will be directed to Kalaeloa Boulevard via the Campbell Industrial Park/Barbers Point Harbor offramp (Exit 1A) and may continue on Kapolei Parkway, Kamokila Boulevard, and Wakea Street to return to the eastbound H-1 Freeway.

5) PEARL CITY TO AIEA (WEEKEND/DAY/NIGHT WORK)

Up to three lanes closed on the H-1 Freeway in the eastbound direction between the Waiawa Interchange and the Aiea Heights Drive overpass from 10 a.m. on Friday, March 22, through 6:30 a.m. on Saturday morning, March 23, for shoulder widening work. The shoulder will be closed.

 

  • Right lane will be closed between the Pearlridge/Waimalu offramp (Exit 10) and the Kaonohi Street overpass on Friday from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
  • Two lanes will be closed between the H-1/H-2 Merge and the Aiea Heights Drive overpass from 6:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m., and a third lane will be closed from 7:30 p.m. to 6 a.m. Saturday morning.

6) PEARL CITY TO AIEA (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK)

Up to three lanes closed on the H-1 Freeway in the eastbound direction between the H-1/H-2 merge and the Aiea Heights Drive overpass on Saturday night, March 23, through Monday morning, March 25, for shoulder widening work. The shoulder will be closed.

 

  • Two lanes will be closed on Saturday night from 7 p.m. to 9 a.m., Sunday morning. A third lane will be closed between the hours of 8 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.
  • Two lanes will be closed on Sunday night from 6:30 p.m. to 4 a.m. A third lane will be closed from 7:30 p.m. to 4 a.m., Monday morning.

7) PEARL CITY TO AIEA (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK)

Shoulder lane closed on the H-1 Freeway in the eastbound direction between the the Waiawa Interchange and the Aiea Heights Drive overpass from 12 a.m. on Saturday, March 23, through 4 a.m. on Sunday, March 24, for shoulder widening work.

1) AINA HAINA (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK)

Alternating lane closure on Kalanianaole Highway (Route 72) in the eastbound direction between Ainakoa Avenue and West Hind Drive on Sunday night, March 24, through Friday morning, March 29, from 8:30 p.m. to 3:30 a.m., for striping work.

 

2) WAIMANALO (WEEKEND WORK)

Right lane closure on Kalanianaole Highway (Route 72) in both directions between Keolu Drive and Flamingo Street on Saturday, March 23, from 7 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., for maintenance work.

 

 

— LIKELIKE HIGHWAY (ROUTE 63) —

 

1) NUUANU (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK)

Closure of the Likelike Highway (Route 63) in the Honolulu-bound direction between the Kahekili Interchange and Valley View Drive from 7 p.m. on Saturday night, March 23, through 7 a.m. on Sunday morning, March 24, for tunnel maintenance in the Wilson Tunnel. The Pali Highway in the Honolulu-bound direction will be open during closure hours.

 

 

— NIMITZ HIGHWAY (ROUTE 92) —

 

1) HONOLULU (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK)

Alternating roving lane closure on Nimitz Highway (Route 92) in both directions between River Street and Waiakamilo Road on Saturday, March 23, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for utility work.

 

2) HONOLULU (WEEKEND WORK)

Left lane closure on Nimitz Highway (Route 92) in the westbound direction in the vicinity of Ahua Street on Saturday, March 23, from 6 a.m. to 12 p.m., for electrical maintenance work.

 

3) HONOLULU (WEEKEND WORK)

Alternating lane closure on Nimitz Highway (Route 92) in the eastbound direction in the vicinity of the Dillingham Boulevard onramp on Saturday, March 23, from 5 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., for maintenance work.

 

 

— PALI HIGHWAY (ROUTE 61) —

 

1) NUUANU TO KANEOHE (WEEKEND AND WEEKLY CLOSURE)
Closure of the Pali Highway (Route 61) in both directions between Waokanaka Street and Kamehameha Highway on Saturday, March 23, through Friday, March 29, over a 24-hour period, for slope stabilization work following the landslide. The Kailua-bound lanes will be temporarily open during the schedule below.

 

From Monday, March 25, through Friday, March 29:

  • Honolulu-bound traffic will be contraflowed in the Kailua-bound lanes between Saint Stephen’s Diocesan Center and Nuuanu Pali Drive from 5 a.m. and 9 a.m.
  • The Kailua-bound direction will be open from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.

 

2) NUUANU (WEEKEND WORK)

Roving right lane and shoulder closure on the Pali Highway in both directions between Waokanaka Street and the Pali Tunnels on Saturday, March 23, from 7 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., for maintenance work.

 

 

— KAILUA ROAD —

 

1) KAILUA (WEEKEND WORK)

Shoulder closure on Kailua Road in both directions between the Pali Highway and Hamakua Drive on Saturday, March 23, from 7 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., for maintenance work.

 

 

 

— FORT WEAVER ROAD (ROUTE 76) —

 

1) EWA (WEEKEND WORK)

Right lane and shoulder closure on Fort Weaver Road in the southbound direction between Laulaunui Street and Old Fort Weaver Road on Saturday, March 23, from 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for maintenance work.

 

 

— SAND ISLAND ACCESS ROAD —

 

1) KALIHI (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK)

Left lane and median closure on Sand Island Access Road in both directions between Nimitz Highway and Ulupono Street on Friday night, March 22, through Saturday morning, March 23, from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m., for road marking work.

 

 

— KALIHI STREET (ROUTE 63) —

 

1) KALIHI (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK)

Two lanes closed on Kalihi Street (Route 63) in both directions between Dillingham Boulevard and Beckley Street on Sunday night, March 24, through Monday morning, March 25, and on Tuesday night, March 26, through Friday morning, March 28, from 7 p.m. to 4:30 a.m., for striping work.

 

 

— MIDDLE STREET —

 

1) KALIHI (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK)

Alternating lane closure tentatively scheduled on Middle Street in both directions between North King Street and Kamehameha Highway on Friday night, March 22, through Saturday morning, March 23, and on Wednesday night, March 27, through Friday morning, March 29, from 7 p.m. to 4 a.m., for loop detector and pavement marking installations. Traffic will be contraflowed.

 

Pedestrians are directed to use the east sidewalk as the west shared use walk and bike path is closed on a 24/7 basis.

KAUAI LANE CLOSURES

— KAUMUALII HIGHWAY (ROUTE 50) —

 

1) HANAPEPE (24/7 CLOSURE)

The Hanapepe River Bridge on Kaumualii Highway (Route 50) between Puolo Road and Iona Road will be closed, and traffic will be shifted to the adjacent temporary bridge over a twenty-four-hour period, seven days a week. Speed limit is reduced to 25 mph.

 

 

— KUHIO HIGHWAY (ROUTES 56/560) —

 

1) WAIKOKO TO WAINIHA (EMERGENCY WORK, LOCAL ACCESS BY CONVOY)
Limited access for local traffic on Kuhio Highway (Route 560) between Waikoko and Wainiha on Mondays through Saturdays from 5:50 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sundays and holidays from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., due to slope stabilization work. To view the limited access schedule, please click here.

KULANIHAKOI STREET

 

1) KIHEI (24-HOUR WORK)

Closure of Kulanihakoi Street in both directions between Piilani Highway and Mahealani Street, over a twenty-four hour period, 7 days a week, for sewer and water line work. Traffic will be directed to Kaonoulu Street and South Kihei Road as an alternate route.
