OAHU LANE CLOSURES

FOR THE WEEKEND OF MARCH 15 – MARCH 17

 

PLEASE NOTE:

Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice.
All projects are weather permitting.

 

— H-1 FREEWAY —

 

1) HONOLULU (24-HOUR WORK)

24-hour shoulder closure on the H-1 Freeway in the westbound direction between the Pali Highway overpass and the Houghtailing Street underpass on Friday, March 15, through Friday, March 22, for guardrail and shoulder improvements.

 

2) HONOLULU (24-HOUR WORK)

24-hour shoulder closure on the H-1 Freeway in the eastbound direction in the vicinity of the Liliha Street overpass on Friday, March 15, through Friday, March 22, for guardrail and shoulder improvements.

 

3) HONOLULU (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK)
Two right lanes closed on the H-1 Freeway in both directions on Sunday night, March 17, through Friday morning, March 22, from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m., for guardrail and shoulder improvements. The School Street onramp to the H-1 Freeway westbound will be closed during this time. Motorists will be detoured via Palama Street and Vineyard Boulevard.

 

  • Lane closures in the westbound direction are between Vineyard Boulevard offramp (Exit 22) and the Liliha Street overpass.
  • Lane closures in the eastbound direction are between the Palama Street overpass and the Liliha Street overpass.

 

4) HONOLULU (WEEKEND WORK)

Alternating lane closure on the Airport offramp (Exit 16) from the westbound H-1 Freeway on Saturday, March 16, from 5:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., for bridge maintenance.

 

5) HONOLULU (24-HOUR WORK)

Shoulder closure on the H-1 Freeway in the eastbound direction in the vicinity of the Airport offramp (Exit 16) on Friday, March 15, through Friday, March 22, over a 24-hour period, for The Rail project.

6) KAHALA (WEEKEND CLOSURE)

Lane closure on the H-1 Freeway in the eastbound direction between the Kilauea Road underpass and Ainakoa Avenue on Saturday, March 16, for the Tour de Cure event. Closures will begin at 5:30 a.m. until the last participant passes through the area. An additional closure is needed on Kalanianaole Highway for this event (see below).

7) KAPOLEI (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK)

Closure of the H-1 Freeway in the eastbound direction between the Campbell Industrial Park/Barbers Point Harbor offramp (Exit 1A) and the Wakea Street onramp on Sunday night, March 17, through Friday morning, March 22, from 9 p.m. to 4:30 a.m., for the Kapolei Interchange Complex, Phase 2 project.

 

Eastbound motorists will be directed to Kalaeloa Boulevard via the Campbell Industrial Park/Barbers Point Harbor offramp (Exit 1A) and may continue on Kapolei Parkway, Kamokila Boulevard, and Wakea Street to return to the eastbound H-1 Freeway.

8) PEARL CITY TO AIEA (WEEKEND/DAY/NIGHT WORK)

Up to three lanes closed on the H-1 Freeway in the eastbound direction between the Waiawa Interchange and the Aiea Heights Drive overpass from 10 a.m. on Friday, March 15, through 6:30 a.m. on Saturday morning, March 16, for shoulder widening work. The shoulder will be closed.

 

  • Right lane will be closed between the Pearlridge/Waimalu offramp (Exit 10) and the Kaonohi Street overpass on Friday from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
  • Two lanes will be closed between the H-1/H-2 Merge and the Aiea Heights Drive overpass from 6:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m., and a third lane will be closed from 7:30 p.m. to 6 a.m. Saturday morning.

9) PEARL CITY TO AIEA (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK)

Up to three lanes closed on the H-1 Freeway in the eastbound direction between the H-1/H-2 merge and the Aiea Heights Drive overpass on Saturday night, March 16, through Monday morning, March 18, for shoulder widening work. The shoulder will be closed.

 

  • Two lanes will be closed on Saturday night from 7 p.m. to 9 a.m., Sunday morning. A third lane will be closed between the hours of 8 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.
  • Two lanes will be closed on Sunday night from 6:30 p.m. to 4 a.m. A third lane will be closed from 7:30 p.m. to 4 a.m., Monday morning.

10) WAIMALU TO AIEA (WEEKEND WORK)

Shoulder closure on the H-1 Freeway in the eastbound direction between the Pearlridge/Waimalu offramp (Exit 10) and the Aiea Heights Drive overpass for shoulder widening work.

 

  • Friday, March 15, from 9 a.m. continuously through 4 a.m. on Sunday morning, March 17.
  • Monday, March 18, through Thursday, March 21, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Friday, March 22, from 9 a.m. to 11:59 p.m.

H-3 FREEWAY

1) KANEOHE (WEEKEND CLOSURE)

Lane closures on the H-3 Freeway in the Kaneohe-bound direction between the Hospital Rock Tunnel and the Likelike Highway offramp (Exit 9) on Saturday, March 16, from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m., for electrical maintenance work.

 

  • One right lane closed between Hospital Rock Tunnel and the Likelike Highway offramp (Exit 9).
  • Closure of the Likelike Highway offramp (Exit 9). Motorists traveling on the H-3 Freeway may access Kaneohe via the Kamehameha Highway offramp (Exit 11).

 

 

— FARRINGTON HIGHWAY (ROUTE 93) —

 

1) MAKAHA (WEEKEND WORK)

Lane closure on Farrington Highway (Route 93) in the westbound direction between Makua Valley Road and Kaena Point on Saturday, March 16, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for utility pole maintenance. Traffic will be contraflowed.

 

 

— KALANIANAOLE HIGHWAY (ROUTE 72) —

 

1) AINA HAINA (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK)

Alternating lane closure on Kalanianaole Highway (Route 72) in the eastbound direction between Ainakoa Avenue and West Hind Drive on Sunday night, March 17, through Friday morning, March 22, from 8:30 p.m. to 3:30 a.m., for striping work.

 

2) HAWAII KAI TO WAIMANALO (WEEKEND CLOSURE)

Lane closure at various locations on Kalanianaole Highway in the eastbound direction between Ainakoa Avenue and Keolu Drive on Saturday, March 16, for the Tour de Cure event. Closures will begin at 5:30 a.m. until the last participant passes through the area.

3) WAIMANALO (WEEKEND WORK)

Right lane closure on Kalanianaole Highway (Route 72) in the eastbound direction between Keolu Drive and Flamingo Street on Saturday, March 16, from 7 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., for maintenance work.

 

 

— KAMEHAMEHA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 99) —

 

1) PEARL CITY (24-HOUR WORK)

Lane closure on Kamehameha Highway (Route 99) in the eastbound direction between Waihona Street and Acacia Road on Friday, March 15, through Friday, March 22, over a 24-hour period, for The Rail project.

— NIMITZ HIGHWAY (ROUTE 92) —

 

1) HONOLULU (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK)

Right lane closure on Nimitz Highway (Route 92) in the westbound direction in the vicinity of Iwilei Road from 9 p.m. on Friday night, March 15, through 12 p.m. noon on Saturday, March 16, for sewer maintenance.

 

 

— PALI HIGHWAY (ROUTE 61) —

 

1) NUUANU TO KANEOHE (WEEKEND AND WEEKLY CLOSURE)
Closure of the Pali Highway (Route 61) in both directions between Waokanaka Street and Kamehameha Highway on Saturday, March 16, through Friday, March 22, over a 24-hour period, for slope stabilization work following the landslide. The Kailua-bound lanes will be temporarily open during the schedule below.

 

From Monday, March 18, through Friday, March 22:

  • Honolulu-bound traffic will be contraflowed in the Kailua-bound lanes between Saint Stephen’s Diocesan Center and Nuuanu Pali Drive from 5 a.m. and 9 a.m.

Roving shoulder closure on the Pali Highway (Route 61) Runaway Truck Ramp in the Kailua-bound diection between the Pali Tunnels and Kamehameha Highway on Saturday, March 16, from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., for maintenance work.

 

3) NUUANU (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK)

Up to two lanes tentatively closed on the Pali Highway (Route 61) in the Honolulu-bound direction between Waokanaka Street and Nuuanu Avenue on Sunday night, March 17, through Friday morning, March 22, from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., for the Pali Highway Resurfacing project.

  • One lane closed from 6:45 p.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Two lanes closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Closure of Kalaeloa Boulevard in the northbound direction between the eastbound Kalaeloa Boulevard onramp and Farrington Highway on Sunday night, March 17, through Friday morning, March 22, from 8 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., for the Kapolei Interchange Complex Phase 2 project. The eastbound Kalaeloa Boulevard onramp will remain open. Motorists wanting to access the westbound H-1 Freeway will be detoured via Kapolei Parkway, Kamokila Boulevard, and Wakea Street to the Farrington Highway onramp.

Alternating lane closure tentatively scheduled on Middle Street in both directions between North King Street and Kamehameha Highway on Friday night, March 15, through Saturday morning, March 16, and on Monday night, March 18, through Friday morning, March 22, from 7 p.m. to 4 a.m., for loop detector and pavement marking installations. Traffic will be contraflowed.

 

Pedestrians are directed to use the east sidewalk as the west shared use walk and bike path is closed on a 24/7 basis.

1) HANAPEPE (24/7 CLOSURE)

The Hanapepe River Bridge on Kaumualii Highway (Route 50) between Puolo Road and Iona Road will be closed, and traffic will be shifted to the adjacent temporary bridge over a twenty-four-hour period, seven days a week. Speed limit is reduced to 25 mph.

 

 

— KUHIO HIGHWAY (ROUTES 56/560) —

 

1) WAIKOKO TO WAINIHA (EMERGENCY WORK, LOCAL ACCESS BY CONVOY)
Limited access for local traffic on Kuhio Highway (Route 560) between Waikoko and Wainiha on Mondays through Saturdays from 5:50 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sundays and holidays from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., due to slope stabilization work. To view the limited access schedule, please click here.
