HDOT News Release: Weekly lane closures

There will be no lane closures from Dec. 22 – Dec. 28 due to HDOT’s Holiday Lane Closure Restriction. Shoulder closures are permitted to occur during this time. The special use lanes will not be operational on Tuesday, Dec. 25, for the Christmas holiday. A list of the special use lanes can be found here.  

 

OAHU LANE CLOSURES

FOR THE WEEK OF DEC. 22 – DEC. 28

 

PLEASE NOTE:

Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice.
All projects are weather permitting.

 

1) ISLANDWIDE

Roving shoulder closures on the following roadways for maintenance work: H-1 Freeway, H-3 Freeway, Kamehameha Highway (Routes 80/83/99), Farrington Highway (Routes 93/930), Kahekili Highway (Route 83), Fort Weaver Road (Route 76), Kunia Road (Route 750), Sand Island Access Road, and Kaukonahua Road. The roving shoulder closures will occur on Monday, Dec. 24, through Friday, Dec. 28, between the hours of 6:30 a.m. and 3 p.m.

 

 

— H-1 FREEWAY —

 

1) HONOLULU (24-HOUR WORK)

24-hour shoulder closure on the H-1 Freeway in the westbound direction between the Pali Highway overpass and the Houghtailing Street underpass on Friday, Dec. 21, through Friday, Dec. 28, for guardrail and shoulder improvements.

 

2) HONOLULU (24-HOUR WORK)

24-hour shoulder closure on the H-1 Freeway in the eastbound direction between the Kalihi Street overpass and the Liliha Street overpass on Friday, Dec. 21, through Friday, Dec. 28, for guardrail and shoulder improvements.

 

3) WAIMALU (WEEKEND AND WEEKLY WORK)

Shoulder closure on the H-1 Freeway in the eastbound direction between the Pearlridge/Waimalu offramp (Exit 10) and the Aiea Heights Drive overpass on Saturday, Dec. 22, from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Wednesday, Dec. 26, through Friday, Dec. 28, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., for shoulder widening work.

— KALANIANAOLE HIGHWAY (ROUTES 61/72) —

 

1) WAIMANALO

Lane shift and shoulder closure on Kalanianaole Highway (Route 72) in both directions between Kanapuu Drive and Poalima Street on Wednesday, Dec. 26, through Friday, Dec. 28, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for roadway reconstruction and utility work.

— KEAHUMOA PARKWAY —

 

1) KAPOLEI (24-HOUR WORK)

Lane shifts on Keahumoa Parkway in the westbound direction in the vicinity of Kualakai Parkway on Friday, Dec. 21, through Friday, Dec. 28, over a twenty-four hour period, for The Rail project.

— MIDDLE STREET —

 

1) KALIHI (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK)

Lane closures on Middle Street in both directions between North King Street and Kamehameha Highway on Friday night, Dec. 21, through Saturday morning, Dec. 22, from 7 p.m. to 4 a.m., for the Middle Street Pavement Reconstruction project. Traffic will be contraflowed.

 

Pedestrians are directed to use the east sidewalk as the west shared use walk and bike path is closed on a 24/7 basis.

— KUHIO HIGHWAY (ROUTES 56/560) —

 

1) WAIKOKO TO WAINIHA (EMERGENCY WORK, LOCAL ACCESS BY CONVOY)
Limited access for local traffic on Kuhio Highway (Route 560) between Waikoko and Wainiha on Mondays through Saturdays from 5:50 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sundays and holidays from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., due to slope stabilization work. The Sunday/Holiday schedule will be in effect for the Christmas holiday from Saturday, Dec. 22 through Tuesday, Dec. 25. Regular convoy schedule to resume Wednesday, Dec. 26.
