FOR THE WEEK OF MAY 18 – MAY 24

— H-1 FREEWAY —

 

1) HONOLULU (24-HOUR WORK)

24-hour shoulder closure on the H-1 Freeway in the westbound direction between the Pali Highway overpass and the Middle Street underpass on Friday, May 17, through Friday, May 24, for guardrail and shoulder improvements.

 

2) HONOLULU (24-HOUR WORK)

24-hour shoulder closure on the H-1 Freeway in the eastbound direction in the vicinity of the Liliha Street overpass on Friday, May 17, through Friday, May 24, for guardrail and shoulder improvements.

 

3) HONOLULU (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK)
Two right lanes closed nightly on the H-1 Freeway in the westbound direction between the Queen Emma Street overpass and the Palama Street offramp (Exit 20C) on Sunday night, May 19, through Friday morning, May 24, from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m., for guardrail and shoulder improvements. The School Street onramp to the H-1 Freeway westbound will be closed during this time. Motorists will be detoured via Palama Street and Vineyard Boulevard.

 

4) HONOLULU (NIGHT WORK)

Two lane closures on the H-1 Freeway in the westbound direction between the Palama Street offramp (Exit 20C) and the Houghtailing Street offramp (Exit 20B) on Tuesday night, May 21, through Friday morning, May 24, from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m., for sign work.

 

5) HONOLULU (NIGHT WORK)
Closures on the Airport offramp (Exit 16) from the H-1 Freeway in both directions on Wednesday night, May 22, through Friday morning, May 24, from 8:30 p.m. to 4:30 a.m., for sign work. Paiea Street and Aolele Street will remain open.

 

6) HONOLULU

Alternating lane closure on the H-1 Freeway in both directions between the Pearl Harbor Interchange and the Keehi Interchange on Monday, May 20, through Thursday, May 23, from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., for bridge maintenance work.

 

7) KAPOLEI (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK)

Closure of the H-1 Freeway on Sunday night, May 19, through Wednesday morning, May 22, for the Kapolei Interchange Complex, Phase 2 project. Motorists will be detoured.

 

  • Sunday night through Monday morning – Closure in the westbound direction between the Makakilo Drive overpass and the Campbell Industrial Park/Barbers Point Harbor offramp (Exit 1) from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Motorists will be detoured via Makakilo Drive, Farrington Highway/Kamokila Boulevard, Wakea Street, and the Farrington Highway onramp to return to the westbound H-1 Freeway.
  • Monday night through Tuesday morning – Closure in the eastbound direction between the Campbell Industrial Park/Barbers Point Harbor offramp (Exit 1A) and Wakea Street onramp from 9 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. Motorists will be detoured via Kalaeloa Boulevard, Kapolei Parkway, Kamokila Boulevard, and the Wakea Street onramp.

A third lane will be closed from 7:30 p.m. to 4 a.m. The shoulder lane will be open on Tuesday night and closed on Wednesday night.

Lane closure on the H-201 Moanalua Freeway in the eastbound direction in the vicinity of the Aiea Access Road overpass on Sunday night, May 19, through Monday morning, May 24, from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m., for striping work. During this time the northbound and southbound Aiea Access Road ramps to the eastbound H-201 Moanalua Freeway will be closed. Motorists will be detoured to access the freeway via the Kahuapaani Street onramps.

 

2) AIEA

Lane closure on the H-201 Moanalua Freeway in the eastbound direction in the vicinity of the Aiea Access Road overpass on Monday, May 20, through Friday, May 24, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for guardrail and shoulder improvements.

 

3) MOANALUA (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK)

Two lane closures on the H-201 Moanalua Freeway in the eastbound direction between the Ahua Street overpass and the Funston Road overpass, on Sunday, May 19, through Friday morning, May 24, from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m., for median work.

Shoulder lane closure on the H-201 Moanalua Freeway in the eastbound direction between the Fort Shafter/King Street offramp and the Middle Street overpass, on Monday, May 20, through Friday, May 24, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., for trenching and utility work.

Lane closures on Farrington Highway (Route 93) in both directions between Ala Hema Street and Leihoku Street on Sunday night, May 19, through Friday morning, May 24, from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m., for repaving work as part of the Farrington Hwy Resurfacing, Phase II from Hakimo Road to Kili Drive project. Traffic will be contraflowed.

 

  • Two lanes will be closed in the eastbound direction on Sunday night and Monday night.
  • Two lanes will be closed in the westbound direction on Tuesday night through Friday morning.

Alternating lane closure on Farrington Highway (Route 93) in both directions between Kili Drive and Makua Valley Road on Monday, May 20, through Friday, May 24, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for paving work. Traffic will be contraflowed. Pedestrian and bicycle facilities will be limited.

Shoulder closure on Kahekili Highway (Route 83) in the southbound direction in the vicinity of Ahuimanu Road on Sunday, May 19, from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., for maintenance work. Parking will not be available.

 

 

— KALANIANAOLE HIGHWAY (ROUTES 61/72) —

 

1) AINA HAINA (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK)

Alternating lane closures and lane shifts on Kalanianaole Highway (Route 72) in the westbound direction between West Hind Drive and Ainakoa Avenue on Sunday night, May 19, through Friday morning, May 24, from 8:30 p.m. to 3:30 a.m., for striping and paving work. Traffic will be contraflowed.

 

2) AINA HAINA (NIGHT WORK)

Lane closure on Kalanianaole Highway in the eastbound direction between Laukahi Street and Wailupe Circle on Tuesday, May 21, through Friday, May 24, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for tree trimming work. Sidewalk will be closed to pedestrians.

Closure of the Pali Highway (Route 61) in both directions between Waokanaka Street and Kamehameha Highway over a 24-hour period, for slope stabilization work. The Kailua-bound lanes will be temporarily open during the schedule below.

 

  • Honolulu-bound traffic will be contraflowed in the Kailua-bound lanes between Saint Stephen’s Diocesan Center and Nuuanu Pali Drive from 5 a.m. and 9 a.m.
  • The Kailua-bound direction will be open from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.

 

2) NUUANU (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK)

Closure of the Pali Highway (Route 61) in the Honolulu-bound direction between the Wylie Street overpass and Pauoa Road offramp on Sunday night, May 19, through Friday morning, May 24, from 6:30 p.m. to 2:30 a.m., for the Pali Highway Resurfacing project. One lane will be tentatively closed from 2:30 a.m. to 5 a.m. Detour signs to Wylie Street and Nuuanu Avenue will be posted.

  • Lane will be closed at the Funchal Street intersection from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Access to Honolulu-bound Pali Highway will be limited to school traffic only. Traffic will be detoured via South Kuakini Street.
  • Lane will be closed from the Wyllie Street overpass to South Kuakini Street from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

— KAUMUALII HIGHWAY (ROUTE 50) —

 

1) HANAPEPE (24-HOUR CLOSURE)

The Hanapepe River Bridge on Kaumualii Highway (Route 50) between Puolo Road and Iona Road is closed. Traffic is shifted to the adjacent temporary bridge over a twenty-four-hour period, seven days a week. Speed limit is reduced to 25 mph.

 

 

— KUHIO HIGHWAY (ROUTES 56/560) —

 

1) HANALEI (24-HOUR CLOSURE)

24-hour closure of the Lihue-bound lane of Kuhio Highway (Route 560) at mile marker 1 (hill approaching Hanalei Bridge) for emergency slope stabilization. Access in both directions is on an alternating basis until further notice.

 

2) WAIPA TO WAINIHA (EMERGENCY WORK, LOCAL ACCESS BY CONVOY)

Limited local access to Kuhio Highway (Route 560) past Waipa Bridge is available for vehicles with county issued placards in both directions Monday through Saturday on the following schedule:

  • 5:30 a.m. – 8:20 a.m.
  • 12:45 p.m. – 2:15 p.m.
  • 5 p.m. – 11 p.m. (Unless bridge night work is scheduled. The schedule for May is available here)

Sunday/Holiday access is between 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. (Unless there is a full weekend closure)

 

3) KAPAA

Lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) in both directions between Kealia Road and Mailihuna Road at the Kapaa Stream Bridge on Wednesday, May 22, from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., for bridge inspection work.

 

4) LIHUE (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK)

Alternating two-lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) in both directions between North Leho Drive and Kapule Highway on Sunday night, May 19, through Friday morning, May 24, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., for road reconstruction and repaving.
