OAHU LANE CLOSURES

FOR THE WEEK OF MAY 25 – MAY 31

 

PLEASE NOTE:

Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice.
All projects are weather permitting.

 

— H-1 FREEWAY —

 

1) HONOLULU (24-HOUR WORK)

24-hour shoulder closure on the H-1 Freeway in the westbound direction between the Pali Highway overpass and the Middle Street underpass on Friday, May 24, through Friday, May 31, for guardrail and shoulder improvements.

 

2) HONOLULU (24-HOUR WORK)

24-hour shoulder closure on the H-1 Freeway in the eastbound direction in the vicinity of the Liliha Street overpass on Friday, May 24, through Friday, May 31, for guardrail and shoulder improvements.

 

3) HONOLULU (NIGHT WORK)
Two right lanes closed on the H-1 Freeway in the westbound direction between the Queen Emma Street overpass and the Palama Street offramp (Exit 20C) on Tuesday night, May 28, through Friday morning, May 31, from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m., for guardrail and shoulder improvements. The School Street onramp to the H-1 Freeway westbound will be closed during this time. Motorists will be detoured via Palama Street and Vineyard Boulevard.

 

4) DANIEL K. INOUYE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (NIGHT WORK)

Closures on the second level Airport departures and parking ramps on Friday night, May 31, from 10:30 p.m. to 4:30 a.m., for sign installations. Motorists are advised to use ground level entrance.

 

5) HONOLULU

Alternating lane closure on the H-1 Freeway in both directions between the Pearl Harbor Interchange and the Keehi Interchange on Tuesday, May 28, through Thursday, May 30, from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., for bridge maintenance work.

 

6) HONOLULU TO HALAWA (NIGHT WORK)
Alternating lane closure on the H-1 Freeway in the westbound direction between the Pearl Harbor Interchange and the Halawa Interchange on Friday, May 31, from 9:30 p.m. to 4 a.m., for maintenance work.

 

7) KAPOLEI

Right lane closure of the Makakilo/Kapolei/Kalaeloa offramp (Exit 2) from the H-1 Freeway in the westbound direction on Tuesday, May 28, through Friday, May 31, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for the Kapolei Interchange Complex Phase 2 project.

Up to three lanes closed on the H-1 Freeway in the eastbound direction between the H-1/H-2 merge and the Aiea Heights Drive overpass on Saturday night, May 25, and Sunday night, May 26, for shoulder widening work. The shoulder will be closed.

 

  • Two lanes will be closed on Saturday night from 7 p.m. to 9 a.m. A third lane will be closed from 8 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., Sunday morning.
  • Two lanes will be closed on Sunday night from 6:30 p.m. to 4 a.m. A third lane will be closed from 7:30 p.m. to 4 a.m., Monday morning.

Closure of the Pali Highway (Route 61) in both directions between Waokanaka Street and Kamehameha Highway on Saturday, May 25, through Friday, May 31, over a 24-hour period, for slope stabilization work following the landslide. The Kailua-bound lanes will be temporarily open during the schedule below.

 

From Tuesday, May 28, through Friday, May 31 (The contraflow will be closed Monday, May 27, for Memorial Day):

  • Honolulu-bound traffic will be contraflowed in the Kailua-bound lanes between Saint Stephen’s Diocesan Center and Nuuanu Pali Drive from 5 a.m. and 9 a.m.
  • The Kailua-bound direction will be open from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.

 

2) NUUANU (NIGHT WORK)

Closure of the Pali Highway (Route 61) in the Honolulu-bound direction between the Wylie Street overpass and Pauoa Road offramp on Monday night, May 27, through Friday morning, May 31, from 6:30 p.m. to 2:30 a.m., for the Pali Highway Resurfacing project. One lane will be tentatively closed from 2:30 a.m. to 5 a.m. Detour signs to Wylie Street and Nuuanu Avenue will be posted.

  • Right lane will be closed from Waokanaka Street to Dowsett Avenue from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Lane will be closed at the Funchal Street intersection from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Access to Honolulu-bound Pali Highway will be limited to school traffic only. Traffic will be detoured via South Kuakini Street.
  • Lane will be closed from the Wyllie Street overpass to South Kuakini Street from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

1) KALIHI (SIDEWALK AND BIKE PATH CLOSURE)

The west shared use walkway and bike path are closed on Middle Street between North King Street and Kamehameha Highway on Friday night, May 24, through Friday night, May 31, over a 24-hour period, for the Middle Street pavement reconstruction project. Pedestrians are directed to use the east sidewalk.

— KAUMUALII HIGHWAY (ROUTE 50) —

 

1) ELEELE TO KALAHEO

Two lane closures on Kaumualii Highway (Route 50) between Eleele Road and Ola Pua Road at the Wahiawa Stream Bridge on Tuesday, May 28, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for bridge inspection work. Motorists will be detoured to Halewili Road.

 

2) HANAPEPE (24-HOUR CLOSURE)

The Hanapepe River Bridge on Kaumualii Highway (Route 50) between Puolo Road and Iona Road will be closed, and traffic will be shifted to the adjacent temporary bridge over a twenty-four-hour period, seven days a week. Speed limit is reduced to 25 mph.

 

3) OMAO

Lane closure on Kaumualii Highway (Route 50) in both directions between Maluhia Road and Punee Road on Thursday, May 30, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., for vegetation and tree trimming work.

 

 

— KUHIO HIGHWAY (ROUTES 56/560) —

 

1) KILAUEA
Alternating lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) in both directions in the vicinity of North Kolo Road on Tuesday, May 28, through Friday, May 31, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., for landscaping work.

 

2) LIHUE (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK)

Alternating two-lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) in both directions between North Leho Drive and Kapule Highway on Tuesday night, May 28, through Friday morning, May 31, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., for road reconstruction and repaving.

 

— KUHIO HIGHWAY (ROUTES 56/560) —

 

1) WAIPA TO WAINIHA (EMERGENCY WORK, LOCAL ACCESS BY CONVOY)

Limited local access to Kuhio Highway (Route 560) past Waipa Bridge is available for vehicles with county issued placards in both directions Monday through Saturday on the following schedule:

  • 5:30 a.m. – 8:20 a.m.
  • 12:45 p.m. – 2:15 p.m.
  • 5 p.m. – 11 p.m. (Unless bridge night work is scheduled. The schedule for May is available here)

Sunday/Holiday access is between 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. (Unless there is a full weekend closure). From Friday night, May 24 through Monday, May 27, access will be operating on the Sunday/Holiday schedule in observance of Memorial Day.

2) KEANAE

Lane closures on Hana Highway (Route 360) in both directions at mile marker 15.8 on Tuesday, May 28, through Friday, May 31, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., for steel reinforcement installations. Traffic will be contraflowed.
