HI-EMA NEWS RELEASE: Siren testing on Oahu – November 28, 2016
Posted on Nov 25, 2016 in Latest Department NewsHONOLULU — Hawaii Emergency Management Agency (Hawaii EMA), together with the City and County of Honolulu Department of Emergency Management will conduct siren testing at the following locations and times.
Monday, November 28, 2016 (9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.)
- Kaena Point – Waianae
- Thompson Corner – Haleiwa
- H-3 Lookout – Kailua
These new sirens are part of the Statewide Siren Modernization Project. Residents nearby may hear the siren sound six to eight times for 30-second to one-minute intervals during the identified timeframe. Testing will include short blasts known as “burps.” During the tests, emergency management officials and technicians will check that installation work on this siren has been completed properly.
