HI-EMA NEWS RELEASE: Testing of siren on Oahu – September 20, 2017

HONOLULU — The Hawaii Emergency Management Agency (Hawaii-EMA), together with the City and County of Honolulu Department of Emergency Management, will conduct siren testing at the following location and time.

Wednesday, September 20, 2017 (9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.)

  • Ku’ilei Cliffs Beach Park, Diamond Head

The siren was installed as part of the Statewide Siren Modernization Project. Residents nearby may hear the siren sound six to eight times for 30-second to one-minute intervals during the identified timeframe. Testing will include short blasts known as “burps.” During the tests, emergency management officials and technicians will check the functionality of the siren.
