HONOLULU — Representatives of government agencies and eligible private non-profit agencies with costs related to damage from Hurricane Lane are invited to Applicant Briefings for the federal Public Assistance (PA) program. The presentation will include application procedures, administrative requirements, and funding and program eligibility criteria.

Under the PA Program, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) awards grants to assist State and local governments and eligible Private Nonprofit (PNP) entities with their recovery efforts.  The declaration currently provides funds for eligible debris removal, emergency protective measures, and permanent work.  The federal share of the funding is 75 percent of the eligible costs.

Applicant Briefings will be held:

Tuesday, October 9, 2018, 2018

9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Kauai Emergency Operations Center

Monday, October 15, 2018

9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Maui County Emergency Operations Center

Prospective applicants should contact Ms. Lorinda Wong-Lau, Hawaii Emergency Management Agency, by phone at 808-733-4300, ext. 801, or email [email protected] to receive a Request for Public Assistance (RPA) application.

Private non-profit organizations (PNP) interested in attending should contact Ms. Wong-Lau to receive a PNP packet which will explain the required documentation to be submitted with the RPA.

The Presidential Disaster Declaration signed by President Trump on September 27, 2018, covers floods, wildfires and other disasters that occurred because of the Hurricane Lane between Aug. 22-29, 2018. It provides support from the Public Assistance Grant Program for emergency and repair work for disaster-damaged facilities on Hawai‘i Island, Maui and Kaua‘i.
