PSD NEWS RELEASE: Missing OCCC extended furlough inmate arrested

HONOLULU – The Department of Public Safety was notified this evening that extended furlough inmate John Luna was arrested by Honolulu Police. Luna failed to report to OCCC Module 20 for his scheduled check-in on January 27.

Inmates in the extended furlough program live and work outside of the facility but must check in at various times throughout the month.

Luna is serving time for Burglary 1, Robbery 2, Unauthorized Possession of Confidential Personal Information, Possession of a Detrimental Drug 3, and Prohibited Acts Related to Drug Paraphernalia.  Escape 2 is expected to be added to his charges. He was tentatively approved for parole and awaiting the parole board to set the release date. 

36-year old Luna is classified as community custody which is the lowest custody level.
