PSD NEWS RELEASE: OCCC work furlough inmate captured by State Sheriffs

HONOLULU – Oahu Community Correctional Center (OCCC) work furlough inmate Utualo Faapouli was captured by Hawaii State Sheriffs in an area near the Campbell Industrial Park at approximately 5:25 p.m.  Faapouli failed to return to Module 20 yesterday afternoon.  He left the facility on a day pass and was scheduled to return by 3:30 p.m.

He is serving time for Unauthorized Control of a Propelled Vehicle, Promoting a Dangerous Drug 3 and Prohibited Acts Related to Drug Paraphernalia. His next parole hearing is scheduled for March 2017.

Faapouli is a community custody inmate in the work furlough program.  Inmates in the work furlough program are either actively seeking employment or working in the community.  Community custody is the lowest classification status.
