PSD NEWS RELEASE: Sheriffs, HPD search for missing Waiawa Correctional Facility inmate

HONOLULU – Waiawa Correctional Facility inmate Kurt Lopes was reported missing from a headcount at about 9 p.m.  State Sheriffs and Honolulu Police were immediately notified.  How he escaped is under investigation.

30 year-old Lopes is classified as a minimum custody. He is 5’7”, weighs 195 lbs. and has brown hair and brown eyes.  Lopes has tattoos around his neck and on his face.  The tattoo on the right side of his face says “Kudin” and on the left it says “Rosalia”. His neck tattoo says “Khloe-Raine”.

Lopes is serving time for Burglary 1 and Unauthorized Entry into a Motor Vehicle.  His next parole hearing was scheduled for May 2017.

Waiawa Correctional Facility consists of dorm-style housing for minimum custody, sentenced male inmates.  All inmates participate in education or substance abuse treatment programs.
