HONOLULU – The State Sheriff Special Operations Fugitive Unit, attached to the FBI Violent Crime Task Force, and working in cooperation with the ATF, Honolulu Police Department and FBI, arrested a wanted fugitive. Alan Tavares was wanted on a Federal Felon in Possession warrant as well as a HOPE probation violation warrant. He was located in a vehicle near Sand Island Park. When approached he tried to flee in his vehicle. The task force moved in to surround him, blocking the road. They captured him at about 11:55 a.m.

“This was a joint effort with our law enforcement brothers and sisters, from federal as well as city and county agencies, to remove a violent offender from the streets,” said Koa Dobrowolsky, Sheriff Special Operations Fugitive Unit Lieutenant.

Tavares will be turned over to the FBI after Sheriffs finish booking him on the HOPE probation violation warrant. Two other people were in the car with Tavares. A male, 31-year old Dustin Kim, was arrested on a parole violation. A female was released pending charges.
