Tax Workshops to be held Statewide in July

HONOLULU — The Department of Taxation announced dates for its 2018 Tax Workshop to be held across the State this July.

The Tax Workshop allows tax professionals to learn more about the Department and provides Certified Public Accountants an opportunity to earn to earn three (3) Hawaii Board of Public Accountancy Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credits at an affordable price.

This year’s Tax Workshop topics include: an update on administrative rules, tax changes that occurred during the 2018 legislative session, and a special presentation on Conformity 2018: Hawaii’s Response to the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act and Other Federal Law Changes, and a guest presentation by the Internal Revenue Service’s Local Taxpayer Advocate on their services.

“Governor Ige directed the Department to increase its presence within the tax community,” said Linda Chu Takayama, Director of Taxation. “For the first time, the Department has teamed up with the IRS Advocate to bring additional value to our workshop attendees.”

All workshops will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., with sign-in beginning at 8:00 a.m. The fee is $90 for individuals who submit their registration and payment by the registration deadline. Late registrations are $110 per person. Walk-in registrations will be accepted at the door on a space available basis. The fee includes a continental breakfast, workshop materials, and three (3) hours of Hawaii Board of Public Accountancy CPE credits. Workshop materials may be separately purchased for $25 per set.

These workshops are held in partnership with the continuing education programs at Leeward Community College, Hawaii Community College, Kauai Community College, and Maui College.
