Cleanup and repair work continues on Kuhio Highway in Waikoko and Wainiha. HDOT is stabilizing the slope beneath the highway in five locations and expects the slope stabilization to be completed in Fall 2018. Work to upgrade the 3 Ws (Waioli, Waikoko, and Waipa Stream Bridges) is also expected to be complete in Fall 2018. More information on the repairs is available at https://hidot.hawaii.gov/presentations

At the request of Hanalei residents and the County of Kauai, HDOT is working to modify the schedule for the upgrade of the 3 Ws. The bridge work was initially planned as night work, but HDOT is in the process of reworking the plan to address noise concerns. More information on the finalized bridge work schedule and the phasing out of convoy access to Wainiha and Haena will be announced early next month.
