NEWS RELEASE: Statement from Governor David Ige on aviation mishap in Waimanalo

HONOLULU – Gov. David Ige expresses his condolences to the family of the Marine who died in an aviation accident at Bellows Air Force Station in Waimānalo on Sunday.

The governor’s thoughts and prayers are also with the Marines and Navy corpsman who were injured aboard the MV-22 Osprey aircraft.

“We must also express our gratitude to the rescue crews and to the civilians who stepped in to assist the injured. The military is an integral part of our local community whether troops are based here in Hawai‘i or elsewhere. Hawai‘i serves as an important training location for our forces throughout the Asia-Pacific region. We offer our support and best wishes during this difficult time,” said Gov. Ige.
