HONOLULU – The Department of Public Safety (PSD) Training and Staff Development (TSD) section reports one law enforcement recruit tested positive for COVID-19. The Department of Health is conducting contact tracing and has cleared TSD to continue the Law Enforcement Recruit Class (LERC) and Basic Corrections Recruit Class (BCRC) training. PSD is coordinating with DOH to offer voluntary testing to all recruits and TSD staff.

 

The PSD Administrative Division also reports one admin employee has tested positive. It was determined that the individual had no recent contact with other employees.

 

COVID-19 testing is continuously being conducted in our state prisons and jails as well as the contracted Saguaro Correctional Center in Eloy, AZ. The latest testing updates received for the correctional facilities are as follows:

Saguaro Correctional Center (Eloy, AZ) – 295 Hawaii inmate test results: 5 positive, 290 negative

Maui Community Correctional Center – 154 inmate test results: 24 positive, 129 negative, 1 inconclusive (being re-tested)

Halawa Correctional Facility – 20 inmate test results: 2 positive, 18 negative

Oahu Community Correctional Center – 45 inmate test results: 2 positive, 43 negative

Kauai Community Correctional Center – 1 positive inmate test result

Hawaii Community Correctional Center – 33 staff test results: 1 positive, 32 negative. 34 negative inmate test results

Women’s Community Correctional Center – 3 negative inmate test results
