HONOLULU — Hawaii Emergency Management Agency (HI-EMA), formerly known as State Civil Defense, together with the City and County of Honolulu Department of Emergency Management will conduct siren testing between the hours of 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the following locations:

Tuesday, September 15

  • Keaau Beach Park, Waianae
  • Ewa Beach Shopping Center

Thursday, September 17

  • Ala Wai Golf Course, Honolulu
  • Ala Wai Regional Park, Honolulu
  • Wailupe Beach Park, Aina Haina

Residents nearby may hear the siren sound six to eight times for 30-second to one-minute intervals during the identified timeframe. Testing will include short blasts known as “burps.” During the tests, technicians will check that installation work on this siren has been completed properly.

Residents may call HI-EMA at (808) 733-4300 if they have any questions or concerns regarding modernization of the Statewide Outdoor Siren Warning System. Contact the City and County of Honolulu Department of Emergency Management at (808) 723-8960 to report routine siren operational issues.

HI-EMA encourages the public to make use of other methods of warning including, but not limited to, text notification systems and NOAA Weather Radio.
