STATEMENT FROM THE OFFICE OF THE GOVERNOR: Setting the record straight

Posted on Jun 22, 2017 in Latest Department News, Newsroom, Office of the Governor Press Releases

Contrary to a recent news report, inmate Mukadin Daquan Gordon remains in custody at the Halawa Correctional Facility and is not being paroled in Hawai‘i. Gordon is serving a minimum term of seven years for sex assault, kidnapping and promoting prostitution.

The Hawai‘i Paroling Authority tentatively approved parole for Gordon on the condition that Washington state accepts his request for out-of-state transfer. Washington State denied his initial request. There is a window of appeal still open until August 19, 2017 for Washington to reconsider, but to be clear, Gordon is NOT being considered for parole in Hawai‘i. If there is no new action by Washington, the matter will be deferred for reconsideration in one year.
