First Hawai’i island ‘Ohana Zone project opens

The Keolahou shelter and assessment center offers 50 emergency beds, case management and other resources for single men — a collaboration between the state,
the County of Hawai‘i, HOPE Services and other community partners. The facility provides medical attention, counseling, job connections, laundry facilities, legal guidance and food. More projects to address homelessness are also in the pipeline for the county, including emergency shelters in Kona to help families and individuals, and additional housing on the second floor of Keolahou.
